The Freedom Online Coalition is a partnership of 30 governments, working to advance Internet freedom. Coalition members work closely together to coordinate their diplomatic efforts and engage with civil society and the private sector to support Internet freedom – free expression, association, assembly, and privacy online – worldwide. The Annual Conference, themed “Internet Freedom at a Crossroads: Common Paths Toward Strengthening Rights Online” offers an open platform for discussion among all stakeholders – governments, civil society, the private sector, and others – to share relevant information, develop joint strategies and combine efforts towards their mutual goal of a human rights based Internet.

Session 10 on Day 2 is themed “Internet Freedom as a Freedom of Choice,” and will link the work of the Freedom Online Coalition to date with the challenges ahead. The work of the UN Secretary General’s “High Level Panel on Digital Cooperation” will also be a key focus on the session. Information about the goals and work of the panel will be presented and we will use the session to formulate key messages for transmission to the High Level Panel as an input to their work from the Freedom Online Coalition.
